The Tri-Sport Taupo club holds a variety of duathlons,triathlons and aquathlons throughout the summer, catering for all age groups and capabilities. The club has a Junior Development Squad for young athletes hoping to progress in the sport of triathlons, as well as more senior members enjoying the fitness and friendship of triathlon participation.
The club has a number of members who have excelled in the international arena of triathlons and duathlons. Such members include: Arna Taylor - 2000 Womens World Triathlon Champion and Runner Up 2001, Mike Candy - Canadian Duathlon Age Group Champion 2001, Brian Rhodes - Winner of the 2001 Malaysian Ironman, Shanelle Barrett in the Asia-Pacific region and Bevan Docherty, 2004 World Champion, Silver Medal 2004 Olympics and Fiona Docherty, European Triathlon circuit continue to achieve on the circuit.
The club also cherishes its 'have a go' and 'first time triathlon' members. It is wonderful to see the pleasure on the face of those completing their first event.
A number of our dedicated members have gone on to complete half and full Ironman events both in Taupo, Kona and other events around the world.
The club has events dedicated to children and women. A children's duathlon is held weekly over summer.
Our weekly Monday night duathlons start in October. Included in the season are short distance triathlons and aquathlons held at Acacia Bay and Wharewaka Point and an standard and peoples distance triathlon held at Kinloch in early February.
